Upon hearing a noon TV news report on Friday, 8 August 2008 that the Third Church of Christ Scientist Building on 16th Street in downtown DC may soon be demolished … it was during my Friday evening photowak later that afternoon that I began my long contemplated Third Church Of Christ Scientist & Christian Science Monitor Building Complex documentary project.

It was during my Dog Days / Nights of August photo walk of 4 August 2008 that I captured this man dancing at the Dupont Circle South’s 1350 Connecticut Avenue Complex Plaza to the New Orleans Jazz sounds of the UHOP’s Madison Livelystones Band.

I began my Sunday, 3 August 2008 photojourmal with a trip to the Best Buy at the DCUSA Columbia Heights Shopping Mall to purchase a Dirt Devil vacuum  

Not having been to the Sunday Drum and Dance Circle at Malcolm X. Park since Sunday, 4 May 2008 it would be later in the afternoon and after having first passing through Dupont Circle that I would take the above photo and several videos during my 3 August 2008 Malcolm X. Park Drum & Dance documentation.

Since the spring of 2006 when in the Dupont Circle East and Logan Circle West area of NW Washington … in connection with my ongoing Windows on P Street and Windows of the World series … I have often photographed the window of the Nicolas F Shi Artist Studio.

Tivoli Square - Columbia Heights Walk - WDC - 27 July 2008

When instead of my ritual Sunday photowalk through Dupont Circle that I returned to Columbia Heights on Sunday evening, 27 July 2008 this was one of the photos that I took in connection with my newly launched Tivoli Square Complex project.

Since during my early July trip to Fort Lauderdale my newly purchased SmartDisk 80GB PhotoBank malfunctioned the very first thing that I did on Saturday morning after returning to DC on Friday night was to take the subway to Colubmia Heights with hopes of returning the defective merchandise to the Best Buy at DC-USA Shopping Mall which is where I had purchased it in early June.

Unfortunately, since the 15 day period had already passed the Best Buy store clerk suggested that since the merchandise carried a one year warranty it would be necessary for me to return it to SmartDisk.  When I informed her that an earlier attempt to visit the SmartDisk website had led me to a now defunct company whaich, apparently, had been acquired by Verbatim … she looked at me and said, ‘You may be out of luck’!

Before returning to the apartment, I embarked on a 26 July 2008 Saturday afternoon photo walk that took me through the Columbia Heights / Adams Morgan / U Street area.  And, it was in connection with my ongoing Windows of the World 2008 and 18th Street projects that I shot the  above photo of the Left Bank Bistro at 2424 18th Street in NW WDC.
